Origin story

The founding of Asisiwa was conceived by Richard K. Kusi in 2008 as a new graduate student at the Kennesaw State University, in Marietta, Georgia -USA. Born in a small Cocoa farming village in Ghana, he witnessed the struggle and the excitement from parents, grandparents and neighbours trying to reach the nearby town on foot for several miles to trade in goods and services.

The nearby towns from Cocoa farming villages known as “Market Towns” are relatively bigger towns where people from nearby villages converge to engage in buying and selling of items including farm produce.

A typical “market town” is called Asesewa, popularly pronounced as Asisiwa. It is a historic trading post with combination of cultures from all walks of life in Ghana.

Richard, being passionate about ensuring that buying and selling of goods and services reach a wider audience, and to provide convenience way for people in Ghana and around the world to engage in buying and selling of goods and services finally founded Asisiwa E-Commerce in 2024.
